May 5th, 2018, mark that date on your calendars. The biggest fight that can be made in boxing, will for the second time take place.
Gennady Golovkin and Saul Canelo Alvarez will once again lock horns to try and determine who is the world’s premier middleweight. The fight will once again be for every title in the division except Billy Joe Saunders’ WBO title.
Golovkin will put his WBC, WBA, IBF and IBO world middleweight titles on the line. While ‘Canelo’ put the prestigious RING Magazine Lineal title on the line.
Canelo once again reaffirmed his assertion that he should have been declared the victor. But shared he has no qualms with the judges’ verdict, much unlike his rival Golovkin.
“Everyone already knows what happened. I made my fight and I think I won it but at the end, the judges saw it as a draw.
Canelo promises that the rematch will be a ‘more interesting’ and ‘more important’ battle than their first meeting on September 16.
“That reason this second fight will be more interesting, more important,” Canelo said to ESPN Deportes.
“This time the judges will not have to decide the result with their scores … I’m going to win my fight by knockout … I’ll be ready to win that way,” Canelo argued.
Canelo shared that he is looking forward to the rematch. The Mexican also says he will once again ensure that he turns up on fight night in optimum condition.
“We are analyzing the idea of training in the mountains of Colorado, to be at a high elevation to gain more conditioning,” ‘Canelo’ added.
“I will be in my best shape. I’m going to have a great fight and I’m confident of winning.
“I know that this will be a more interesting fight and that people will enjoy it better than the first,” Canelo said.
