Last week, former 2-weight world champion, Carl Frampton began a new chapter of his career. Under new stewardship in the training and promotional departments with Jamie Moore and Frank Warren respectively.
The Northern Ireland native took on Mexico’s Horacio Garcia; who he thoroughly outclassed during the fight’s early going.
However, Garcia performed admirably in the second half of the fight. This forced ‘The Jackal’ into a position where he had to hold off a determined fightback.
“A win’s a win and I move on, I got hit a bit too much that’s all. I expect more from myself,” Frampton started, before adding “I like to impress the fans but I didn’t expect to be coming out with a face like this.
Frampton continued “I expected to win”.
Frampton also evaluated his Mexican opponent, adding “He was a tough guy, the shots were bouncing off his head. I know what I did right and I know what I did wrong. We will work on it.”
Now that Frampton has had an opportunity to shake off the ring rust, he has now set his sights on a world title showdown at Windsor Park.

“Everyone went away thinking it was a good fight and I got the win. I’m still hungry for a world title! I will be ready for a world title next if it comes. If I have to wait in the side-lines for the next one and then bring a world champion to Windsor Park in the summer then let’s do it.”
The Northern Irishman is also settling into his relationship with his new trainer, the former junior middleweight contender Jamie Moore.
who recognised the stresses Frampton had been under for the last year:
Moore delved into his interpretations of the fight, explaining Frampton’s personal circumstances may have hindered him, more than we know.
“I think he deserves massive credit for the performance he put in with the amount of stress he has been put under.”
