Hall of Fame inductee Carl Froch has claimed that he would ‘f**k up’ MMA legend Conor McGregor if they ever stepped into the ring together.
Conor McGregor has often teased a return to the boxing ring, after facing Floyd Mayweather on his professional debut and Froch has consistently offered him that opportunity.
The pair were involved in an online altercation during the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua, where Froch joked that the Irishman “couldn’t punch the skin off of a rice pudding” and he continues to encourage a fight with the UFC’s two-weight world champion.
In response to the joke, McGregor threatened that he would grab Froch’s head and twist it off with his bare hands, however that doesn’t seem to have phased the former unified super-middleweight champion.
In an interview with Boxing UK, Froch once again spoke about McGregor, who is currently out of action with an injury.
“He’s shaved his beard since I wrote him off hasn’t he! I told him I was going to grab him by his beard and drag him outside.
Listen, I like Conor McGregor, there is a lot to admire about him, a lot of stupid haters give him a lot of s**t but Conor McGregor, for me is somebody that I admire, I think he is great.
He’s not a boxer, he doesn’t want to fight me, he’d get absolutely f****d up, he might do the same to me in the cage and that is why we are both champion in our own right.
He knows, if he wants a roll around, he knows where to come, but he ain’t going to want this smoke.”
Froch retired from boxing in 2014 following a historic win over George Groves at Wembley (in front of 80,000). Meanwhile, McGregor vs Froch would be give the Irishman a chance to improve his 0-1 record as a boxer.
