Carl Froch has revealed the current fighter that he enjoys watching the most.
Former super middleweight champion Froch retired after his famous knockout win over George Groves at Wembley Stadium back in 2014.
Since then however, he has remained in close contact with the sport as a pundit and with his outspoken views on his own YouTube channel. Speaking on his Froch on Fighting show, ‘The Cobra’ named the current fighter he likes watching the most.
“I like watching Ben Whittaker, The Surgeon, light heavyweight, unbeaten, he’s now turned professional. He’s just exciting, he reminds me of reminds me of Prince Naseem Hamed, the style, the showboating, the showmanship. I really enjoy watching him fight.
“He’s a prospect, I do think he’ll be able to do things at the world level, he will have to calm the showboating down cause if you’re doing fancy footwork, leaving your chin up in the air, it’s hard to sustain for 12 rounds and eventually, some of these top fighters will get you but he’ll work it out.”
Whittaker was last out on Saturday when he got a win against Central Area champion Leon Willings in an eight-round non-title fight on the undercard of Fabio Wardley versus Frazer Clarke.
He did plenty of his usual tricks and was put under more pressure than he had been before now but still took the victory and then took to social media and suggested indirectly that he might be changing promotional outfits soon.
He currently fights with Boxxer but any promoter would surely love to have him on their books.
