Carl Froch has named Floyd Mayeather as his greatest fighter of all time. The British boxing legend gave his opinion during an interview with FightJOE when asked a question regarding who is the boxing ‘GOAT’.
“It has to be Floyd Mayweather, because when you look at his CV and look at who he boxed he boxed everybody, like the Miguel Cottos and Zab Judahs and the people that were doing everything and winning stuff, he just beat them all.”
Froch went on to add:
“Canelo Alvarez, he took him on. Alvarez was bigger than Mayweather, but he got in there with him. It was tough for him, it was hard, but he gets in there with the best of the best and constantly wins, retires undefeated, 50-0.”
Most British fight fans associate Mayweather with his fight against home hero Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand on 8th December 2007. Both came into the contest undefeated, with ‘TBE’ knocking down and stopping Hatton in round ten.
Froch has been retired for over eight years now, with his last fight being by far his biggest, defending his WBA and IBF super-middleweight titles in a rematch with George Groves at Wembley Stadium in May 2014.
Mayweather has been known for his money-making exhibition fights since retiring professionally in 2017, most notably facing US YouTuber Logan Paul at the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami in June 2021.
Floyd’s next exhibition has been confirmed to be against another YouTuber, Deji, on Sunday 13th November in Dubai. The fight will be watchable on DAZN PPV.
