Carl Froch has named who his dream sidekick in a street fight would be, and it’s a man he shared the ring with twice during his career.
As well as his glittering professional career that saw him inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, Froch has also become known for his infamous escapades “on the cobbles,” where he has put his in ring attributes to use against those unfortunate enough to cross him without gloves on.
And, speaking on his YouTube channel Froch On Fighting, he revealed old rival Mikkel Kessler is the man he’d want beside him if he was ever caught outnumbered – though he couldn’t resist having a pop at Andre Ward when giving his answer.
“Mikkel Kessler jumps to mind, he keeps himself fit and strong, he’s still in shape.
So who would I want as my wing man in a street fight? Probably Mikkel Kessler. Although Andre Ward was very good with his head – look how he good he was against Kessler, cutting him to bits. And the head can be quite useful in a street fight.
So maybe Andre Ward’s wrestling skills and head butting would make him a good wing man on the street. Nah, I’m taking the p*** now.
Mikkel Kessler would be the ultimate wingman in a straightener on the cobbles.”
Kessler handed Froch the first defeat of his career back in 2010, though the Nottingham man got his revenge three years later.
Ward was the only other man to get the better of Froch during his time as a professional – though it’s obvious ‘The Cobra’ doesn’t have any hard feelings over it now!
