Carl Froch has responded to his induction into the Boxing International Hall of Fame in typical style.
‘The Cobra’ is a British – and now officially world – legend of the sport, hanging up the gloves in 2014 on a career that saw him fight 35 times, win 33, and hold multiple super middleweight titles.
This week it was announced that he would be joining the likes of Joe Calzaghe and Lennox Lewis in the IBHOF, and he posted a video referencing another of his achievements.
“Some news dropped yesterday, so most of you already know but I just want to make it official, and say a personal thanks to my fans and supporters. I am now being officially inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Wow. Just saying that actually sounds unbelievable.
So, just think, you’ve never got to listen to me bang on about how many fans were at Wembley Stadium ever again – because I can now tell you about the time when I got inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.”

Fans won’t have to hear the number to know what he’s referring to, but, just in case – it was 80,000 at Wembley. Froch knocked out George Groves that night in one of the victories that have helped get him in to the history books.
In his career he also claimed English, British, and Commonwealth belts before winning his first world title in 2008 by beating Canada’s Jean Pascal. The two Groves fights marked the end of a stellar stint in the sport which many British fans regard as one of the greatest in the country’s history – something the hall of fame voters clearly agree with.
Groves congratulated his old rival, with Froch telling him that ‘he played his part’ in the story.
