Carl Froch has weighed in with his prediction for the hotly anticipated undisputed welterweight world title fight between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford.
The two Americans will do battle for all four world titles on July 22nd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, in one of the best match ups to be made in the entire sport.
Speaking on his YouTube channel Froch on Fighting, ‘The Cobra’ revealed he was just edging with Crawford to get the better of Spence.
“I like the older, wiser Terence Crawford. Errol Spence is a fantastic talent, a great fighter. Crawford is as well, but he’s just a bit older and a bit wiser and, when he needs to, he can step it up a level.
He’s a bit similar to Oleksandr Usyk in the heavyweights. If he has a bad round, he then just steps on the gas. I think Crawford has that slight extra gear and is that little bit more special.”
“So I’d say Crawford beats Spence, but it really is a 51-49 percent fight, nothing in it. It’s one I’m really looking forward to.
With both Spence and Crawford having entered their mid thirties, fears were growing amongst the boxing public that the historic undisputed fight would ever take place, especially given the external barriers that have always seemed to divide the pair.
However, after years of wasted negotiations and public he said she said, terms were finally settled for the two pound for pound stars to compete for all the marbles at 147lbs.
Neither Spence nor Crawford have ever taste defeat and have a knack for finishing fights early, so fans are surely are in for a night to remember in Las Vegas.
Bookmakers have Crawford a marginal favourite at the time of writing, though the contest really could swing either way.
