Following the announcement of yet another blockbuster card in Saudi Arabia, there have been questions as to whether it will be Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder fighting as the headline act.
Now, three-time super-middleweight world champion, Carl Froch, has had his say on who should top the bill.
Joshua continues his comeback in what will be his third outing of the year after outpointing Jermaine Franklin and knocking out Robert Helenius thus far under the guidance of new trainer, Derrick James.
However, on this occasion, Ben Davison will take the reigns, meaning ‘AJ’ will have worked under four different trainers in his last five fights when he takes on Sweden’s Otto Wallin
Meanwhile, Wilder has competed in just one round since a second defeat to Tyson Fury in 2021. He faces a fellow former world champion in Joseph Parker.
On his YouTube channel, Froch explained why he believes Joshua’s fight with Wallin is the main attraction.
“I have got to say Anthony Joshua. Anthony Joshua is the big name, he is the big news, he is the former two-time world champion and he is rebuilding, people are interested in what he has got to do.”
“Deontay Wilder, obviously he lost to Tyson Fury twice and gave him a draw in one of their meetings. Although he is a big name, he is in against Parker and all eyes are going to be on AJ-Wallin.
‘What is AJ going to do? Can he perform? Can he get the finish? Can he look good? Can he show confidence?’, all of these unanswered questions of things that we have not seen in his last couple of comeback fights.”
“I’d say Anthony Joshua-Otto Wallin will be the bill topper, that will be the last fight of the night.”
Should both men come through with the win, they’re expected to face off in the first half of 2024.
