In one of the most unlikely feuds of 2022, retired-pro Carl Froch and former UFC champion Conor McGregor have been at each other’s throats online.
‘The Cobra’ held multiple super middleweight titles during his career, and famously defeated George Groves in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley. He retired in 2014 with a record of 33 wins and 2 losses and has since found success as an analyst and pundit.
Conor McGregor is known for his meteoric rise in mixed martial arts, although he has boxed professionally once – a KO loss to Floyd Mayweather.
McGregor, who has been rumoured to be open to a rematch with ‘Money’ Mayweather, posted a video on Twitter of him hitting the pads. The point behind the tweet seemed to be promotion of his products – namely his Proper 12 whisky brand and McGregor FAST training gear.
Froch, likely still reeling from the unprovoked attack last time around, gave his thoughts:
Couldn’t punch the skin off a rice pudding!

With this being the age of crossover bouts and bizarre match ups (see Logan Paul vs Mayweather) could we be in for a fight here?
It seems unlikely. Froch is apparently happy in his current role, and if McGregor challenged everybody he had online spats with he’d be fighting close to every night of the year. Still, stranger things have happened in the sport of boxing.
As of the time of writing, McGregor is yet to respond.
