Floyd Mayweather is supposedly very happy in retirement, he recently reaffirmed he has no interest to fight again and go in search of victory number 51.
Mayweather moved to 50-0 in August when he took on UFC champion, Conor McGregor in a cross over exhibition event. The fight carried unprecedented magnitude in terms of PPV numbers and the gate.
Mayweather was accused of taking it lightly in the opening rounds, supposedly letting his younger foe punch himself to a point of exhaustion. Mayweather confirmed those claims per boxingnewsandviews.com
“Everybody is trying to protest the Mayweather-McGregor fight but I’m going to tell y’all the truth. You know I carried McGregor. You know I made it look good for y’all.” Floyd said, while on holiday.
Additionally, Oscar De La Hoya has made the rounds this week with his claim that he would come out of retirement for a lucrative bout against the reigning UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor.
Furthermore Oscar said he would only need two rounds to inflict a stoppage of McGregor.
This is a change of tune from the head of Golden Boy Promotions.
De La Hoya only two months ago was very vocal about the Mayweather – McGregor fight being a circus, De La Hoya publicly condemned the fight and dismissed its relevance in the boxing world.
The former 5-weight world champion, Mayweather offered up his scathing verdict of De La Hoya’s comments and brandished him a hypocrite per boxingnewsandviews.com.
“Wasn’t Oscar De La Hoya the same one that was talking about me fighting Conor McGregor and he was trying to protest and stop the fight? Now he’s trying to fight Conor McGregor.”
Floyd Mayweather also opened up old wounds between the pair.
Mayweather and De La Hoya have endured a torrid relationship. Their relationship has been like that ever since their then record-breaking meeting for the WBC jr middleweight world title.
Countless barbs have been traded backwards and forwards, but Mayweather once again touched on a sensitive issue for De La Hoya.
‘Money’ Mayweather, not for the first time touched on De La Hoya’s problems with his recreational use of cocaine.
Floyd viciously concluded on a final note, “Is he a hypocrite or is he back on coke again? Man that boy still snorting them lines.”
