It’s clear that everybody wants a piece of the pie when August 26th arrives, including MMA fighters. There has been quite a lot of talk about other MMA vs Boxing fights, such as Anthony Joshua versus Stipe Miocic and Adrien Broner versus Nate Diaz.
But we can forget about those plans for now.
Especially since UFC President Dana White has stated that his company is not a part of the matchmaking. The CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe, has confirmed that there won’t be any other MMA fighters on the Mayweather-McGregor event.
“Yes, we are (handling all the matchmaking), and we are going to have a phenomenal undercard. I can guarantee you that. This will be 100% pure boxers in the show,” Ellerbe said according to bloodyelbow.com.
So forget every MMA fighter versus boxer bout. Not going to happen apart from the main event. Instead, fans will see most likely the likes of Gervonta Davis, Badou Jack, and other Mayweather proteges on the card.
Ellerbe commented very little on the matter.
“These things take time,” he summarised.
