Jermall Charlo cemented his position as the mandatory challenger to Gennady Golovkin’s coveted WBC world middleweight title. ‘The Hitman’ recorded the 21st knockout of his career as he stormed through the challenge posed by Hugo Centeno Jr inside of two rounds.
The undefeated former IBF Jr-Middleweight world champion claimed the interim WBC middleweight title with his most recent victory. Charlo has now insisted, that he wants to lock horns with the feared and ferocious puncher, the unified middleweight kingpin, Gennady Golovkin.

Golovkin is currently scheduled to take on late replacement Vanes Martirosyan on May 5th. That matchup was brought about following the 6-month suspension of the originally scheduled opponent, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
Charlo went on to say he doesn’t know how long it will take to secure that matchup. But the vicious puncher says it is a fight he wants to prove he is the best middleweight in world boxing.
“I cannot promise you that I’ll get that fight,” Charlo said following his second-round knockout of Hugo Centeno Jr. on Saturday night.
“I can’t promise that fight will be real, real soon. But look, like I said, I’m No. 1 in the world right now.”
Charlo also added his belief that he feels Golovkin is in the twilight stage of his career. On the other hand, Golovkin made it readily apparent he respects the Kazakh very much.
“I would love it to be Golovkin because he’s on the way out,” Charlo said.
“I wanna get the chance to fight one of the best Hall-of-Famers that ever did it.”
Furthermore, Charlo is intrigued about testing himself against Golovkin.
“A lot of people around the world wanna see it, too. I mean, the dude is amazing, so I wanna get in there with him and test my talents, too.”
“If I could ever get a chance to fight any one of them guys,” Charlo said.
Lastly, Charlo promised fans that he will expose holes in the top middleweight’s arsenals when he is afforded the opportunity to fight them.
“I guarantee you, you will see them get hit a lot more than they’ve been hit and you’ll see them miss a lot more punches than they ever missed. It’ll be a real, live boxing match. I’m here to fight.”
