The legendary Mexican ‘El León de Culiacán’ Julio Cesar Chavez Sr has ridiculed the decision of the Nevada State Athletic Commission to place the commission hearing for Canelo on April 10th.
“With all due respect, to me it’s ridiculous.”

“If a verdict had already been given, why wait until April 10th if we are 25 days away from the fight.”
“What is the purpose of doing that?,” Chavez Sr. said on ESPN Deportes.
The legendary Mexican multi-weight champion doesn’t see the point in delaying both fighters preparations until a point where we are already just under a month away from the mega Cinco De Mayo middleweight world title clash.
Chavez also suggested that he doesn’t think there is any chance that a cancellation will occur because the money on the line is just too vast an amount.

“I do not think they will cancel it.”
“This is more of a parameter to measure what is going to happen, but there is a lot at stake, a lot of money is at stake and Las Vegas is not going to let the fight slip away to Texas or New York.”
“There are millions of dollars at play.”
Chavez also detailed how the commission’s meeting could play on a fighter’s mind and psyche and take away from what they have to give on fight night.
“The fighters in one way or another… this simply distracts them, affects their concentration, they do not train the same, they do not prepare the same.

Lastly, Chavez suggested that the decision on the upcoming rematch should have been taken sooner as opposed to later.
I think the decision should have been made right now, so everyone would not be waiting with anticipation on whether there will be a fight or there will not be a fight.”
