Chris Eubank Jr is set to make his long-awaited return to the ring in the near future, and he has named the British rival that he would ‘love to get his hands on.’
Eubank was last in action in September 2023 against Liam Smith, scoring a tenth round stoppage win after a dominant display, gaining revenge after losing to Smith by fourth round knockout eight months earlier.
While Eubank may not have stepped back through the ropes since then, he has been busy outside of the ring, splitting with his long-term promotional outfit Wasserman Boxing to sign with Boxxer.
It means that the 34-year-old is set to compete on Sky Sports moving forward once again, having had a number of big fights on the platform in the past, including the two battles with Smith, and victories over the likes of Liam Williams, Gary O’Sullivan and Marcus Morrison.
Eubank has now revealed that he’s ready to get back in the ring as soon as possible, telling Sky Sports Boxing that he’ll be having some huge fights over the next year.
“The plan with me is to get active. I’m 34 years old and I’m ready to get back in. I’ve had a year out the ring and at my age you can’t afford to be doing that. Consistency and activity that is the key.
“We’ll be fighting again over the next couple months and over the next 12 months we’ll have more than one megafight. The amount of names I have on my hitlist is incredible and exciting.”
He also once again spoke about a potential clash with Conor Benn, but revealed that it is Billy Joe Saunders who he would most like to take on, after the two met nearly a decade ago back in November 2014.
“Domestically we have great fights. Conor Benn, Billy Joe Saunders who I’d love to get my hands on. Internationally you have Canelo, Crawford, any of the world title holders in the middleweight division like Lara.
“The list is endless. Now we have the platform and freedom to go and make these fights, so over the next 12 months, watch this space.”
Saunders came out on top against Eubank in their first encounter, claiming a split decision victory. Saunders hasn’t fought since May 2021, where he was stopped by Canelo Alvarez at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
