Following his impressive knockout victory over Liam Smith earlier in September, news broke that Chris Eubank Jr’s trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre was arrested at Manchester airport and he had now admitted it was ‘mind-blowing’ news.
McIntyre, who is also the celebrated trainer of Terence Crawford, was charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate. He was caught while attempting to board a plane with the gun in his checked luggage and his next court date has been set for October 9.
Speaking to IFL TV, Eubank admits he hasn’t spoken to ‘BoMac’ since the arrest and is still trying to get all the facts.
“It’s still something that I am still learning about and still trying to understand. I can’t really make too much comment right now because there is a lot of legal stuff going on.”
He did however go on to share his surprise at the turn of events and said he would be standing by the coach who managed to get one of the best-ever performances out of Eubank.
“But yeh nothing ever goes how you think it’s going to go when you’re looking at a Chris Eubank Jr fight, there are always things that happen that are mind-blowing and unexpected. We’ve just got to try and make sure we do everything we can to help him.”
Eubank is also busy weighing up his fight options with the likes of Gennady Golovkin and Connor Benn two of those he called out. Benn has said he has just one stipulation for the fight should it happen.
