Conor Benn continues to hunt out the biggest possible names to get his career back on track but the coach of one world champion has declared ‘he has nothing we want.’
Been was last out in February against Peter Dobson in Las Vegas and the fight went the full 12 rounds – his first to do so. Benn won on points but seemed to ack some of the power he showed early in his career.
Since then he has named a five-man hitlist he would love to get in the ring and one of them, Gervonta Davis, seemed a viable option for a while but Davis has since gone down a different route.
Benn is still waiting to hear the result of his appeal to the British Boxing Board of Control as to whether or not he can once again fight in the UK following two failed drug tests back in October 2022.
Another of the men he named as a potential opponent was hungry and young rising Star Jason ‘Boots’ Ennis. His father Bozy Ennis has now been speaking to IFL TV and said that fight won’t be happening any time soon when asked if it might.
“Right now? No, for what, Conor Benn don’t have nothing we want. We want to clean the 147 division out, clean out the titles then move up to 154.”
He was then asked if is son might get Terence Crawford next.
“I don’t think that’s going to happen, he already said that. Crawford wants a big fight and to move on. He said ‘Boots’ is the new guy.”
It seems as though Conor Benn’s search for an opponent will go on a little longer.
