Scorecard: 57-54 to @ConorNigel!
What a six round fight… Both men down twice and traded blows until the final bell ๐
Another York Hall classic ๐ฅ

Conor Benn earned a hard fought decision victory against Cedrick Peynaud tonight, Benn claimed a dubious 57-54 score following the enthralling six rounder at London’s York Hall.
In actuality, the fight was much closer than the scorecards read, it was a fight of the year contender. The young son of a boxing legend was sent to the canvas twice in the first round.
The first knockdown came after a sharp left-right combination to the point of Conor’s chin left him on the seat of the pants.
It seemed as though Matchroom may have made a mistake in their matchmaking for the 10-0 Benn.
Peynaud is a fighter who actually came into this match with a very thorough education as a kickboxer and he Benn struggled with the technical superiority.
Conor, however showed the grit of a true fighter and did the Benn name proud by making the decision to go toe-to-toe and fight fire with fire.
Conor fell to the canvas once more during the first round, but in truth it perhaps should have been called a slip.
Both men came out with their guns blazing and looking to throw punches with bad intentions.
The pace began to settle with Benn beginning to find some success with his jab, however a big right hand left Benn with a sizable gash over his left eye.
Being it was only a six round bout, a sense of urgency was needed from Benn as the combatants began the third round.
He came out for the third round, very aggressively throwing hard punches that had murderous intention on them.
Benn had to go for broke and he managed to hurt his foe both to the body and head but being the aggressor he was open to clean shots as he bore forward.
WHAT A FIGHT! ๐
Standing ovation at York Hall!!

How do you score that?! ๐

The fourth round saw the fight continue as a titanic back and forth battle.
Both men were able to land hard punches on another with Peynaud starting the round very fast but Benn responding with a hard body shot midway through the round.
Benn turned the fight on its head in the fifth, however when he managed to inflict what Peynaud had inflicted on him.
A series of punches had Peynaud crashing towards the canvas in dramatic fashion.
Benn managed to score a further knockdown in the sixth and final round.
A big right hand creating some tension ahead of what looked to be headed towards a judges decision that really could have swung either way.
Benn prevailed though by three rounds on the cards and he moves to 11-0, but perhaps it is time to stop the belief that Conor’s career will be a second coming of ‘The Dark Destroyer.’
Anyone who thinks it is going to happen is gravely mistaken if he is having this tough a time at journeymen level.
"I don't think there is anyone in British boxing going on a journey like I am." @ConorNigel Benn is delighted with the progress he's made this year.
