UFC legend and global superstar Conor McGregor appears to have had his head turned, in regards to a rematch with Floyd Mayweather. The Irishman had previously claimed he was “not interested” in the fight on his Instagram, but he has now hinted that he has had a change of heart.
McGregor’s two-word response to rumours of a rematch had silenced whispers of a return to the boxing scene, but now the two-weight UFC champion has stated that he would ‘end’ Mayweather if the two were to go toe-to-toe again. On his Twitter, McGregor even went one further, believing that he was winning the early rounds of their first encounter.
“I beat Floyd if we rematch. Untold truth it was me who carried him the early rounds playing pitty patty. Every single shot I threw early landed. From body to head I was playing ping pong. I come out full force, and today, I end floyd.”
You’ve way more venom then Floyd. I beat Floyd if we rematch. Untold truth it was me who carried him the early rounds playing pitty patty. Every single shot I threw early landed. From body to head I was playing ping pong. I come out full force, and today, I end floyd.

From complete disregard to the noise surrounding the fight, to encouraging a response from Mayweather, there must have been a change in events for McGregor.
He is currently injured with a broken fibula and tibia, which may be needing a longer recovering time than expected, delaying a return to the octagon.
Mayweather has had a series of money-making exhibition fights and has another lined up, where he is set to fight YouTuber Deji and reportedly earnt $1 million just by taking a phone call regarding the bout.
One can only imagine what Mayweather will make for the November exhibition but a rematch with McGregor would undoubtedly blow that figure out of the water, so who can blame McGregor for reigniting their rivalry.
