Floyd Mayweather teased fans with MMA related videos and photos of him in a cage but according to Conor McGregor the rumoured rematch between the two is not happening – for now at least.
The Irishman announced publically that Floyd has stepped away from negotiations and he also wrote a lengthy message to Mayweather.
During the weekend Mayweather was present at the NBA All-Star event and when asked about the MMA rumours, Floyd didn’t give much away.
Just saw @FloydMayweather as I was walking backstage and asked him if he's serious about a rematch with @TheNotoriousMMA in MMA: "I already fought Conor, and we're at a basketball game, not an MMA match."

“I already fought Conor, and we’re at a basketball game, not an MMA match,” replied Floyd to reporter Mike Bohn of USA Today Sports.
TMZ Sports also tried to get some information out of Floyd but the boxer was hesitant to share anything regarding the negotiations.
Surrounded by security and a lot of cameras, Floyd simply replied ‘I don’t know’ when questioned about the MMA rumours and McGregor.
Floyd Mayweather senior and McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh both gave comments to the media that the fight could happen but with McGregor’s recent post it does seem highly unlikely.

Mayweather and McGregor famously fought in one of the biggest fights of 2017 back in August. The hype caused some fans to believe in the Irishman’s chances but Mayweather eventually put an end to the show and stopped McGregor in the tenth round with a technical knockout.
