Crowd Chaos At Sheffield Show Captured On Video As Group Storm Arena

On Saturday night Sunny Edwards put in a great performance as he outpointed former light-flyweight champion Felix Alvarado and retained his IBF world title.

However, one of the main talking points of the night turned out to be on fights outside of the ring (but only just).

Whilst Thomas Essomba battled Marcel Braithwaite in an eliminator for the British flyweight title, heads turned to a fight out in the stands. I happened to be in attendance and whilst it’s not uncommon to be distracted by crowd scuffles at the boxing, this one was different.

From what I could see, a couple of testosterone or ‘banned-substance’ fuelled fights kicked off near the floor seats. Security and innocent fans managed to get in the way and split the groups up.

Those involved were escorted from the venue but looked intent on finishing off what they started outside.

Things then quietened down and attention turned back to the fight in the ring. That was until things really got out of control.

About five minutes after the initial commotion a group of at least a dozen stormed into the arena with their shirts off being led by a man who wouldn’t look out of place in the WWE.

As shown in this fans video, the man and his ‘entourage’ stormed towards the ring throwing barriers out of the way as he pursued the security who had split up the original fights.

This caused so much disruption and chaos that Essomba and Braithwaite were both stood waiting in their corners for the disturbance to come to an end, however, by the way the security fled it looked like they could be waiting a while.

Thankfully, normality resumed as the group were eventually removed from the arena and the rest of the nights action continued without further interruption.
