Boxing fans love to debate who might rightfully sit at the top of any mythical pound-for-pound list but one world champion claims he has already ‘proved’ he is the best boxer to have ever lived.
Boxing is a fickle sport in which one defeat can take a man from the top of the tree to the bottom in an instant. And in this generation, many of the world’s best are hesitant to face off with one another in fear of losing their much-heralded unbeaten status.
One man who has never doubted his ability is lineal and WBC world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, who has dethroned two champions in Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder – both in their own backyards – to lift the belts.
Speaking on IFL TV, The Gypsy King thinks that leaves him with no viable competition when asked about potential fights with others in his division.
“There is no [Anthony Joshua] to me is there. He’s a gym sweeper. Sweeps the gym floors and that. Gets beat up on by people. He’s like an old journeyman now. If you’re a decent heavyweight and you want to beat up on somebody, call him out. You’ll beat him easy. Sausage.”
He then stated he is on a new mission to prove he is more than just a boxer.
“I’m on to the big fights. And I don’t mean the big men, I mean the bigs boys. Him, Ngannou, and Jon Jones in a cage. I want challenges. Not easy bait.”
He takes one final swipe at his pugilistic peers before making the body claim that he is the best ever.
“They’re all bums, the boxers. I’ve already proved I’m the best boxer to ever live and now I want to prove I’m the best fighting man to ever live.”
