For so many years, Daniel Dubois had to hunt down his rivals, however after becoming IBF world heavyweight champion he has rapidly become one of the most wanted men in the entire sport.
It has been just six weeks since Daniel Dubois, in the eyes of many, cemented his position as world champion, after demolishing Anthony Joshua in front of a record-breaking crowd at Wembley.
Since then, talks of a rematch between the pair have taken place, despite many people within boxing warning Joshua against this.
However, after ‘AJ’s’ promoter Eddie Hearn revealed his man is suffering from an injury, this potentially will result in the rematch not taking place next.
Moreover, the IBF have set a deadline for the rematch to take place no later than April 22nd 2025.
Therefore, if the rematch does not take place next, Dubois will certainly not be short of options after plenty of candidates have emerged for a shot at his IBF title.
One of those candidates, is fellow countrymen, Fabio Wardley.
Wardley sits at #12 in the IBF rankings, and has entered the top ten of the ring magazine rankings after his latest performance, in which he brutally knocked out Frazer Clarke in their much anticipated rematch.
Speaking to Talksport, Dubois has said that he has no problem with fighting Wardley.
“Bring them all on, all these contenders,” he said.
“It will be everyone’s decision: my dad’s, the team and Frank Warren to finally get me in there and do the business.”
“But we will all sit down and decide what is next. I can’t wait for it, I’m really excited.”
“I’m on form now and my confidence is right up there. I’m on top of the world right now.”
“So whoever I have got to destroy and take out of their misery we will do it.”
A fight between Dubois and Wardley would be easy to make as they both are part of Frank Warren’s Queensbury stable.
Fans will have to wait and see whether Dubois has his rematch with Joshua, whether he instead looks to face one of his challengers or whether he faces his mandatory challenger, which will be determined when Kabayel fights Bakole.
