Daniel Dubois has a new opponent for Saturday night.
His original foe Julian Fernandez (5-0) has pulled out from the fight and the Mexican has been replaced with a more experienced fighter from Uruguay.
“He’s now fighting Mauricio Barragan (15-1, 8 KO’s). He’s better opponent, he’s a tougher opponent. But I do believe in him [Dubois]. I know he’s got tremendous self belief in himself and I feel that he has the ability to kick on, to move very quickly in the division,” said promoter Frank Warren.
Dubois is fighting a ten round fight for the first time ever in his professional career. In his previous fights he has never fought past the second round. When asked if he’s ready to go all the way, Dubois was confident in his response.
“Definitely ready. This last couple of weeks I’ve been getting top quality sparring and good rounds with prospects. It’s been competitive. I’m ready for ten rounds,” answered Dubois.
The rising heavyweight fighter isn’t worried about fighting a more experienced fighter.
“I’m ready for whoever. I’m just looking forward to performing. I’m twice the fighter that I was before,” told Dubois.
Dubois and Barragan will fight on July 8th at the Copper Box Arena in London.
