David Higgins believes that Anthony Joshua’s latest social media outbursts reveals his true character.
‘AJ’ allegedly sent derogatory comments to fellow heavyweight Eddie Chambers, and made some political comments about Robert Mugabe via his official Snapchat account.
Joshua revealed in a separate interview with Sky Sports that he wanted to emulate tennis legend Roger Federer as a role model, but Higgins thinks the 28-year-old should focus on his antics in the ring.
“I thought some of ‘AJ’s’ recent stuff has been hilarious. Can you imagine Roger Federer forming a bromance with Robert Mugabe?” Higgins told World Boxing News.
“Evidence seems to be mounting since Klitschko flattened Joshua – of rantings on social media, but it seems a taboo subject and he gets a wide berth from the British press.
“I said to Eddie, ‘can you ask Anthony to do more media’ because every time he opens his mouth something like that seems to come out. But he’s accused us of bad PR?
“Some of his quotes, like the Federer and Messi ones, read like that are done by a PR company anyway. I think they’ve been writing his lines since his whole social media mess.”
.@anthonyfjoshua doesn't a 65-35% between two unbeaten champions sound fair? Nearly double our share. Don't worry a rematch clause is there in case you're worried about your chin #NoExcusesNow#NeverBeenDropped .@EddieHearn .@D_Higgins_Duco

Higgins, promoter of WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker, is hopeful that a fight with Joshua can be agreed.
The New Zealander has stated in recent interviews that the camps are still percentages apart from agreeing a deal, but wants the fight to be made so that his charge can go head-to-head with the British unified titlist both in and out of the ring.
“It will be interesting to see his mindset at a face-to-face press conference with Joseph,” Higgins said.
“Accusing us of bad PR but they should have a look at his own statements.
“Someone from the media, at some stage, has to have a good hard look at what Joshua is saying and the way the UK media treats it.”
