David Morrell breaks silence after shock Zak Chelli loss with emotional statement

David Morrell has expressed his feelings following his surprise stoppage defeat at the hands of Zak Chelli. He assured fans that his boxing journey is far from over.

Morrell suffered one of the biggest upsets of the year on May 9 at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England. after Chelli stopped him in the tenth round during their light heavyweight clash. The bout, which took place on the undercard of Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley, saw Chelli overturn massive odds to secure the biggest victory of his career.

Morrell entered the fight as a heavy favorite and appeared in control for much of the contest, boxing well behind his southpaw jab during the early rounds, building a lead on the scorecards.

However, the momentum shifted dramatically late in the ninth round when Chelli landed a huge right hand that badly hurt the Cuban. Sensing the opportunity in the tenth, Chelli piled on the pressure and trapped Morrell in the corner before forcing a stoppage after a sustained attack.

Following the defeat, Morrell took to Instagram and shared an emotional message with supporters.

“We need to take this as a lesson and come back stronger,” he wrote. “We’ll be back soon with more news for you all.”

Morrell also addressed concerns from fans who had been asking about his health after the stoppage.

“For those who asked and were worried, I’m healthy, thank God.”

The Cuban ended his message with a motivational statement reflecting on adversity and resilience.

“A man is not measured by the times he falls, but by the times he gets back up,” Morrell wrote. “This is the beginning of a new stage, not the end of the race.”

Despite suffering a devastating upset, Morrell appears determined to move forward and make a quick comeback.
