Oscar De La Hoya continues to trade words with a range of people in the boxing world, from his own charge Ryan Garcia to his rival promoter Eddie Hearn.
De La Hoya and his Golden Boy Promotions are coming off a good weekend in which one of their fighters, super middleweight contender Jaime Munguia, put on a devastating and display and secured a knockout win against a brave John Ryder in Arizona.
But De La Hoya still had something to say to Hearn about his comments regarding the talks between rivals Garcia and Devin Haney, who have been on and off with negotiations since Haney beat Regis Prograis late last year to become a two-weight world champion.
Speaking at a press conference after the Munguia fight, former world champion De La Hoya expressed surprise at Hearn’s claims that he was involved with those negotiations.
“Last I heard, Haney was a free agent so I’m not sure what he’s talking about.”
“An all Golden Boy versus Matchroom showdown? I’m not sure what fighters I can put against his. I’m not sure he has the talent in his stable.”
