Previously known as ‘The Golden Boy’, Oscar De La Hoya will hope to prove he is a ‘Golden Oldie’ when he returns to the ring, aged 48, on July 3.
The six-weight world champion has maintained he is on the comeback trail for some time now, but that promise will apparently become a reality when he returns on a show broadcast on the entertainment app Triller.
No opponent has been mentioned as yet for the Californian who fought all-comers in an illustrious career at the very highest level. De La Hoya announced his shock comeback date at a press conference for the Jake Paul-Ben Askren bout, that also takes place on Triller on April 17.
It would be De La Hoya’s first bout since an eighth-round retirement loss to Manny Pacquiao in December 2008. De La Hoya (39-6, 30 KOs) has since made waves as a promoter, but the itch to fight has never gone away.
