The reigning, undefeated WBC world heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder has been sentenced to 60 hours of community service for marijuana possession.
Wilder was found guilty by Judge Ricky McKinney, who ordered the 32-year-old to perform the community service at a local YMCA.
Additionally, Wilder was sentenced to a 30-day suspended sentence and probation for a duration of two years.

Wilder was arrested in his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama in June after police found marijuana in his Cadillac Escalade.
He was initially pulled over by the police for a window tint violation.
Once pulled over, the police noticed a strong stench of cannabis coming from the car and proceeded to search the vehicle.
Upon searching the car, they allocated a small quantity of the substance in the vehicle’s console.
Wilder’s lawyer, Mr Paul Patterson argued that the marijuana did not belong to the WBC world heavyweight champion.

Wilder argued that the offence was not committed by himself. The knockout sensation claims he was returning from a trip where other third parties had access to his Escalade.
Wilder is a 2008 Beijing Olympics Bronze medalist and is undefeated while fighting as a professional. He has made six title defences of the world heavyweight championship he won after going the distance with Bermane Stiverne in 2015.
‘The Bronze Bomber’ will make his return to the ring in 2018 against Luis Ortiz.
It is believed that the American native will aim to take on the slick Cuban boxer-puncher on March 3rd at The Barclays Arena in New York.
Ahead of that clash, Deontay Wilder shared “Thank God that he blessed you again and because he blessed you, I’m going to bless you too,” Wilder said.
“I think you’re one of the best and I want to prove I’m one of the best.”

“So for the best to prove they’re the best, the best must fight each other;” Furthermore, Wilder added “So I’m going to bless you again with a second opportunity… I’m coming for you.”
“I’m ready, I don’t want no excuses,” Wilder concluded.
