According to boxingscene.com, Deontay Wilder (38-0) will defend his WBC heavyweight title against Luis Ortiz (27-0) on November 4th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Wilder was linked to fighting Dyllian Whyte later this year but the WBC champion refused the offer and chose Ortiz instead. Although Wilder has mandatory challenger Bermane Stiverne waiting for him, it’s Ortiz who will challenge the WBC champion next. Wilder last fought against Gerald Washington and won via TKO.
Ortiz was gunning for a title shot against Anthony Joshua earlier this year but that did not come to fruition because of Joshua’s ongoing rematch negotiations with Wladimir Klitschko. The Cuban last fought against David Allen in 2016 and won via stoppage.
