Deontay Wilder’s trainer believes an agreement to fight Anthony Joshua is being delayed by Eddie Hearn.
Jay Deas, the lead-cornerman in the ‘Bronze Bombers’ corner, has voiced his concern that the heavyweight blockbuster cannot be agreed next, and has placed the blame on the Matchroom Boxing promoter who has openly revealed that a fight between ‘AJ’ and WBO champion Joseph Parker is close to being agreed.
“I’m glad it’s finally public, open, and out there for the world to see who wants the fight and who doesn’t,” said Deas to World Boxing News.
“Eddie says ‘We’re here. We’re waiting for you. Let’s go…but first (we face Parker)’. Which in my mind translates to ‘We want no part of Wilder right now even though the fans want and deserve it. We are the problem, not Wilder. We’re the ones holding this up.’
Joshua successfully defended his IBF and WBA ‘super’ titles against Carlos Takam on October 28 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, whilst Wilder destroyed Bermane Stiverne in one round a week later In New York.
Both fighters have publicly stated their desire to fight each other, but Deas has questioned whether Joshua will accept the challenge despite his words.

“Fighters have a lot of power,” he said. “Especially Joshua, who could tell Hearn to make the Wilder fight immediately, and it would happen. I hope he does this for all the fans.
“As for Wilder, he’s ready now. The holder of the most prestigious belt (WBC) in all of boxing is ready, willing, and able to lay it on the line immediately.
“Why isn’t the other side?”
