Dereck Chisora has insisted he is “born again” and will upset Dillian Whyte’s plans to face Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium next year when the two men meet in their heavyweight grudge rematch on December 22nd.
Two years on from their brutal twelve round slugfest, the two men will lock horns again at London’s O2 Arena, with the winner of the bout considered by many to be in pole position to face unified World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in April.
Following their close – and in the opinion of some, controversial – first bout, Chisora, 34, has vowed to exact revenge on his London counterpart, claiming that changes to his team and training regimen will prove decisive in the return leg.
“The truth will come out on December 22.” Chisora toldSky Sports.
“What happened in Manchester two years ago was unfair. People had me winning in the fight they gave to him.
“You will see a new Derek Chisora who is fit and raring to go.”
Having linked up with former rival and opponent David Haye in recent weeks, Chisora – who ditched his long-time moniker ‘Del Boy’ in favour of ‘WAR’ – believes his new approach the sport will give him the edge this time around against Whyte.
“David likes everything to be done right. There’s no cutting corners, he’s pushing me to the limit for this camp.” he continued.
“I am enjoying it, loving it, I wake up excited to go training. Everything is organised, prepared for what I’m doing and what I’m not doing, so I am enjoying training and enjoying boxing.”
While the two men are expected to renew hostilities in the build-up to the fight, Chisora would go on to praise Whyte for improvements to his game: but insisted he felt his own improvements outweighed that of his rival.
“Dillian has improved a lot, he’s a different fighter and a good fighter but I have improved more than him.” said Chisora.
“I can say that because I’ve been at the bottom, a couple of times and I’ve bounced back up, but now I have changed my life. I am a born again.
“I’ve stopped doing loads of things and signed with David to help me get that extra 15 per cent in my training camp.”
With Whyte considered by many to be the front-runner to challenge WBA/WBO/IBF World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua next April, Chisora would fire a final shot to the Brixton man, warning him that any thought of Wembley would have to be put on hold until the two tussle once more.
“At least he’s signed this fight, so we’ll have to see if he wants to get to Wembley. If he does, he’s got to get through me.”
