The upcoming WBC silver heavyweight championship fight between Derek Chisora ja Robert Helenius has been delayed until further notice. Promoter Nisse Sauerland states that the reasons behind this decision are ‘business related’. The fight was suppose to take place on May 27th at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland.
“It is with regret that we have been forced to reschedule this event, but due to a number of contributing factors, this has been a neccesary decision. I would like to apologise to all the fans who were looking forward to a great spectacle on May 27, but we will deliver an even bigger and better event after the summer,” said Sauerland.
It is rumored that the rematch between the two simply did not generate enough buzz and sell enough tickets.
“The reasons behind this decision are business related. We will organize a bigger and better fight night later on,” Sauerland continued.
Helenius and Chisora fought before back in 2011 in a European title fight. The bout ended in a controversial split decision victory in favor of the ‘Nordic Nightmare’. The heated rivalry unfortunately has to wait in shelves for a while until Sauerland releases a new date.
