Daniel Dubois and Moses Itauma continue being heavily linked to a future heavyweight showdown following Dubois’ brutal knockout victory over Fabio Wardley, and now Derek Chisora has shared his prediction for the potential clash.
Dubois recently strengthened his position in the heavyweight division after stopping Wardley in a dramatic all-British clash to capture the WBO heavyweight title on May 9. The explosive performance immediately sparked fresh discussions about possible future fights for Dubois, with many fans already calling for a showdown against rising heavyweight prospect Itauma.
Itauma has rapidly emerged as one of the most talked-about young heavyweights in boxing due to his knockout power, speed, and composure at such a young age. Because both fighters are promoted by Queensberry, speculation surrounding a future matchup has only continued growing.
Now, Chisora has weighed in on the debate.
Derek Chisora gives edge to Daniel Dubois
Speaking about the possible matchup on Seconds Out, Chisora admitted he currently favors Dubois because of the experience and momentum he has built at the world level.
“Right now, with the odds, the favourite is Daniel,” Chisora said. “He is the world champion.”
Dubois recent performance has convinced many fans and analysts that he is now entering the prime years of his career.
Because of that experience advantage, Chisora believes Dubois would currently enter the fight as the clear favorite.
“So, I think Daniel [will win],” Chisora added.
Derek Chisora still warns about Moses Itauma’s threat
Although Chisora backed Dubois, he also made it clear that Itauma remains an extremely dangerous challenge for anyone in the division.
“But we know Itauma and how he is,” Chisora said.
The 21-year-old heavyweight prospect has continued to impress fans with his explosive performances and calm mentality, despite his age.
His combination of hand speed, power, and technical ability has drawn comparisons to several elite heavyweight champions. At the same time, some pundits have even suggested he could become a world champion sooner rather than later.
Despite the growing excitement surrounding the matchup, a fight between Dubois and Itauma does not appear close to being made.
Frank Warren has suggested Dubois could first move toward a rematch against Wardley because of a rematch clause attached to their recent fight. Meanwhile, Itauma already has his next bout scheduled as he continues to develop his career step by step. He is reportedly scheduled to headline London’s O2 Arena on August 8, 2026.
Still, the possibility of an all-British heavyweight world title fight between Dubois and Itauma remains. It remains to be seen in a few weeks what Warren decides for the potential showdown.
For now, Chisora believes Dubois would likely come out on top if the fight happened today. Still, he acknowledged the danger and unpredictability Itauma brings to the heavyweight division.
