If the Londoner gets past Helenius, he will become the WBC Silver heavyweight champion which would elevate Whyte into title contention against Wilder.
The WBC World heavyweight champion has avoided and declined numerous offers to fight Whyte. The latest one was a three million dollar deal turned down by Wilder according to promoter Eddie Hearn.
“Wilder might decide to fight Audley Harrison again after this one, instead of me,” laughed Whyte.
Hearn believes this is the way to get to Wilder.
“I think we have made it very clear, we want to make Dillian vs. Deontay Wilder and this WBC Silver title will put us in prime position,” said the promoter.
