Former WBO super-bantamweight champion Isaac Dogboe has announced his return to action against two-time world title challenger Chris Avalos at ‘The Bubble’ in the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, on July 21.
Dogboe (20-2, 14 KOs) has been out of the ring since suffering two tough defeats to rising Mexican star Emanuel Navarrete, who has since emerged as one of the most exciting talents in the lower weight divisions.
The Ghanaian, with roots in the UK having settled in Stockwell, London, as an eight-year-old, originally lost his WBO crown to Navarrete in an upset unanimous decision in December 2018 before falling in the 12th round of their rematch in May 2019.
“See you July 21st 2020 in the Bubble, Vegas, Nevada. Isaac Dogboe vs Chris Avalos,” tweeted Dogboe with a picture of himself in fighting shape alongside team members in masks.
Avalos (27-7, 20 KOs) is known in the UK for his unsuccessful IBF 122lbs title challenge against a prime Carl Frampton. who stopped the Californian in the fifth round in February 2015. ‘The Hitman’ has been matched extraordinarily tough ever since with stoppage losses against Oscar Valdez, Mark Magsayo and Leo Santa Cruz.
