As the most recent man to have fought Oleksandr Usyk, Daniel Dubois is well-placed to assess his power.
Dubois stepped up for his first-ever shot at a full world title back in August in Poland against the former undisputed cruiserweight champion turned unified heavyweight king.
It was only his second loss following a stoppage defeat to Joe Joyce when his eye was badly damaged and caused Dubois to take a knee and bring the contest to an end.
Dubois has now got a quick chance for redemption with a fight against Jarrell Miller on the Day of Reckoning card in Saudi Arabia this Saturday, which also features the likes of Anthony Joshua versus Otto Wallin and Deontay Wilder versus Joseph Parker.
Ahead of that, Dubois was asked by TNT Sports if Usyk hits hard or if it’s his speed that is more damaging.
The 26-year-old puncher doesn’t believe Usyk hits notably hard, revealing that his own predicament after nine hard rounds contributed to the fight ending.
“Speed I guess. I don’t know. Everyone at that level is… a good heavyweight. So speed, and me, the condition I was in as well.”
Dubois will be hoping to show plenty of speed and power against the larger-than-life Miller this weekend, who has 22 knockouts from his 26 wins but faces a step up against ‘DDD.’
