Daniel Dubois is once again a force in the heavyweight division, and his trainer Don Charles has been asked about a potential showdown with Filip Hrgovic.
The hard-hitting Brit then didn’t waste any time making his next move clear following that win in December, calling out IBF mandatory Hrgovic for his next fight.
Dubois’ trainer Charles has now given an update whilst speaking to Boxing Social, stating that Dubois can’t go backwards and so needs another big name for his next opponent, and believes he’d look even better in a potential fight with Hrgovic.
“Daniel had the victory against Miller and prior to that he fought Usyk for the world titles, so he can’t go backwards, he can only go up, that’s why he’s calling out Hrgovic, that’s one of the names that he wants to fight.
“It was so rewarding that victory [over Miller]. I’ve only been with Daniel for two fights, so there’s a lot of development that we’re doing and people will see evidence of that in his upcoming fights.
“I’m a trainer so I stay in my lane, I leave it to the promoter. Fights are presented to me and I say yes or no if I think they’re good fights for Daniel.”
The heavyweight division has a number of big fights coming up in the near future, including Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou, Zhilei Zhang vs. Joseph Parker, and the big one for the undisputed titles between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
