The Matchroom promoter, Eddie Hearn spoke exclusively to Boxing-Social about Tyson Fury’s recent back and forth with Anthony Joshua on Twitter.
Fury at the beginning of the month had his ongoing battles with UK anti-doping reach their natural conclusion. Fury had a hiatus imposed on him following a failed drug test following his unlikely dethroning of Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
I'm excited for this one! February 3rd back at the Lions Den, who you backing to win the fight? I'm caught in the middle!! 😅 #AJBXNGpic.twitter.com/gHLk7rPEFn

Hearn started off by discussing Fury’s latest tweet, where ‘The Gypsy King’ seemed to offer Anthony Joshua a 40% piece of pie in their potential mammoth showdown.
Hearn, however, began by offering his interpretation of those events; “read the tweet again, he is saying he will give Anthony Joshua 40%.”
“That’s what he is saying. I’m sure anyone with half a brain will laugh at that.”
“We’re not worried, we’re here, we’re consistent. We are ready to fight anyone, we can’t talk about fantasy fights about guys who have not boxed for two and a half years.”
“Get yourself fit, get yourself ready and get yourself sensible and that could be a fight. But right now we have to deal with the reality, who is available to fight?”
“He is not available and he is not even interested in taking that fight because he knows he is a long way from taking that fight. That is why he is trying to put himself in a position where it is not going to happen.”
Hearn then touched how the repeated barbs go down behind closed doors with Joshua’s team, Matchroom Boxing etc.
Hearn responded ” Nothing, you can’t take it seriously. We never take it seriously.
“We only take two things seriously, that is real talk and contracts. That is all we are doing, I will never let anyone get in the way of obstructing Anthony Joshua’s career.
“We can’t afford to spend time on time-wasters and until you are serious, it is not even worth wasting breath,” Hearn concluded.
