This week, the former Lineal world heavyweight champion, ‘The Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury was stripped of his lineal status. He won that title when he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko when he was the unified world champion, in Dusseldorf in November 2015.
Following today’s final press conference for ‘The British Beef’ clash between Lawrence Okolie and Isaac Chamberlain. The Matchroom mogul caught up with Boxing Social to discuss the decision to relinquish Fury of his title.

“I thought they should have done it earlier, to be honest with you;” Hearn began.
“They even told him the date that he has to get a fight announced by. They cannot do anymore.”
“I think it is probably for the best, he had to fight somebody in the top five, he wasn’t going to do it.”
“I’d say it devalues Tyson Fury in negotiations, but if you are the RING magazine champion that helps in negotiations for a fight like Joshua.”
Discussing if that RING Magazine belt is now a target for his standout fighter, Anthony Joshua. Eddie Hearn gave us an emphatic yes by saying “100%”.
“Anthony badly wants to win the RING magazine belt. I spoke to Dougie Fischer (RING Magazine Editor-in-chief) and I think Joshua against Wilder will be for the RING magazine belt.”
“I said you should do AJ – Parker for the RING magazine belt. But I think the general consensus is let’s see how Wilder looks on March 3rd.
“Of course if he loses (to Luis Ortiz) then AJ- Parker becomes the natural fight,” Hearn added.
“AJ, he really wants to win the RING mag belt.”

“It was one of the main reasons he wanted to fight Tyson.”
“Well no, the main reason is that he wants to knock him out, but one of the reasons is that he wanted the RING magazine belt. We’ll see what happens;” Hearn concluded.
