Eddie Hearn has had a rocky relationship with Sky Sports and Boxxer in recent times, and he has fired another shot in their direction over the potential showdown between Dalton Smith and Adam Azim, by claiming that Azim will soon be pulled out of the fight.
It was recently announced that Smith and Azim had been ordered to fight for both the British and European titles, pitting together two young undefeated fighters that look destined for big things.
The stumbling block may be due to the fighters being with different promotional teams and broadcasters, with Smith contracted to Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and appearing on DAZN, while Azim is promoted by Boxxer and fights on Sky Sports.
With that in mind, Boxxer CEO Ben Shalom recently said that for the fight to happen it needs to be on the biggest platform, but Hearn has responded to that in an interview with Boxing King Media.
“We’ll make it really easy for you. We’ll do the fight on Sky no problem. Make us an offer. You ain’t going to make us an offer, what you’re going to do very soon is pull Adam Azim for the fight.
“Remember where you heard it first, you heard it from me. They’ll pull Adam Azim out of the Dalton Smith fight. I’ll give you no excuses, we will do the fight on Sky Sports, just make us an offer, and I’ll top the money up if you want, no problem.”
It isn’t the first time that rival fighters for Matchroom and Boxxer have been set to enter into purse bids, with Boxxer pulling Frazer Clarke from a purse bid with Fabio Wardley last year, although the two heavyweights will thankfully finally meet next month.
