Eddie Hearn recently caught up with iFL TV to discuss what lies next for former IBF world welterweight titleholder, Kell Brook. This comes after they met earlier this week for a first face to face meeting in months.
Brook is coming off of two physically draining stoppage defeats at the hands of middleweight divisional kingpin, Gennady Golovkin. He also surrendered the IBF welterweight title to Errol Spence Jr, in his last appearance in the ring.
His plans moving forwards seemed somewhat vague following long-time rival, Amir Khan’s decision to participate in reality television series ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’.
Hearn, however, rebuffed those claims and confirmed what many had expected. That is, that Brook will campaign at the super welterweight limit of 154 lbs when he does make his return to the squared circle.
Eddie Hearn started by explaining that Brook is still hurting over losing his title to Spence Jr. ” It still hurts him and I do not think he is fully over it yet;” Hearn said.
But Hearn insists that Kell will move forward with his career, citing his fighter needs to stay active in the sport.
“Kell needs the regimented lifestyle that boxing provides,” Hearn said.
Touching on what was said when they met earlier in the week. Hearn added that he told Brook he was “one of the biggest stars in British boxing”.
Furthermore, Hearn insinuated his belief that Brook was a top five household name in British Boxing.”In terms of social media numbers, PPV numbers (Kell) is a top, top name.”

Also, Hearn added that he told Brook “not to walk away from the sport before he achieves his goals and defines his legacy.”
“This guy has got plenty of heart. He has stepped up to the plate and he will step up to the plate again,” Hearn assured fight fans too.
“He will return, (at the) end of February (or) early March in Sheffield at 154 lbs. Kell will win another title in the light middleweight division, I truly believe” Hearn added on a final note.
