Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Uysk, Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder, Artur Beterbiev vs Dimitri Bivol, Gervonta Davis vs Shakur Stevenson are amongst some of the most called for match ups to be made in boxing, though none of them seem particularly close at the time of writing.
Every fight fan will have their own number one with regards to which bout they would like to see made above all others – and promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed his personal choice.
When asked by Boxing Social what the number one clash he’d like to see made, Hearn opted for the recently hyped dust up between his former charge Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and pound for pound king Terence Crawford.
“Eubank vs Benn is one, as is Haney vs Prograis. But outside of my stable? I would go for Canelo against ‘Bud.’
“I think it’s a bad fight for Crawford, and I don’t think Canelo would come in a pound under 168lbs. But I do think it would be an intriguing fight.”
Despite the three weight classes currently between the pair, talk of a monster fight between undisputed champions Crawford and Alvarez has swept through the boxing world over the past month.
Crawford is the holder of all four belts in the welterweight division after his stunning win over Errol Spence Jr back in July, whilst Alvarez has had that accolade up at super middleweight since 2021.
Though both fighters have stated they would be happy to get it on in recent interviews, they each have more pressing issues at hand before any serious talks can get under way.
Four weight world champion Alvarez will defend his titles against Jermell Charlo this Saturday night, whilst Crawford looks set to take on Spence again after the Texan activated a contractual rematch clause.
