Eddie Hearn has weighed in on the public back and forth between Oscar De La Hoya and Ryan Garcia – and believes there is only one outcome.
The animosity seems to have stemmed from De La Hoya not appearing alongside Garcia for his post-fight press conference after his first career defeat to Gervonta Davis.
In a recent interview Garcia admitted he felt let down by the no-show, to which his promoter told his client to ‘stop crying’ and ‘man up’.
“What the f**k Ryan. It’s been almost two months and you’re still crying about the post-presser? The blame for your loss is on you and your ‘adviser’ Lupe.
He is the only one who pushed you to accept that insane rehydration clause and that is the reason you lost. Man up. Own that.”
The bizarre public exchange continued with each taking turns to trade insluts about matchmaking, loyalty and respect.
Whilst speaking to iFL TV, Hearn said the ‘unbelievable’ events means the two will soon be battling it out in court.
“Unbelievable. I’ve never seen anything like it. I mean Oscar De La Hoya is just an accident waiting to happen – what is he doing?
Firstly the relationship is so f**ked and everyone knows that, everyone in boxing knows this is ending one way – in court.
Oscar is so irrational in what he does, you never know what he’s going to do.
Not one, but about five tweets, ‘own it, sort yourself out’. It’s just unbelievable. It looks like the relationship is completely irreparable. It’s like a comedy sketch.
Ryan Garcia is Golden Boy’s biggest client by a long way so it’s like me tweeting AJ after he got beat and saying ‘stop with the excuses, just own it’. You never throw your client or friend out to dry. It’s about to explode.”
Garcia split from his trainer, Joe Goossen, after the Davis fight and it now looks certain a change in promoter is also imminent.
