Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are just 27 days away from fighting each other inside a boxing ring. We know the American public will have to pay at least 89.99 dollars for standard definition and $99.99 for high definition
So what about the UK then?
“Mayweather wants the price to be £100,” said promoter Eddie Hearn in an interview with GQ.
That definitely is something that the UK audience is not used to. Standard prices in the country for PPV fights are usually around between 15-20 pounds. A staggering £100 for a boxing match would be a new PPV record in the UK.
Luckily, that most likely won’t be the case. Hearn believes that despite Mayweather’s wishes the actual price will be a lot lower.
“The price will be within the same realms as it always has. I don’t set the price, but my gut feeling is £19.95. If it went to £24.95… I can’t see it, it wouldn’t be my decision. Sky won’t want to go beyond £19.95. That is their price point,” commented Hearn.
Mayweather and McGregor will step into the same ring on August 26th in Las Vegas.
