Matchroom mogul, Eddie Hearn took everyone by surprise at the start of the year when he signed Amir Khan, with whom he had endured a bitter past with, to a three-fight contract with his company, Matchroom Boxing.
With Amir Khan and Kell Brook now operating under the same promotional network and fighting on the same platform, many feel the chances to make the fight between the longtime rivals is now.
Both fighter’s returned to winning ways inside the last two months. Kell Brook dispatched Sergey Rabchenko inside of two rounds while Amir Khan flattened Canada’s Phil Lo Greco inside 39 seconds.

The fight match-up can be broken down to Amir Khan’s speed against Kell Brook’s timing. Hearn says he is intrigued to see how the fight plays out.
“I keep thinking about the fight and how it might play out and that means it’s a great fight because I am mesmerised by it,” Hearn said to IFL TV.
Hearn envisages an ideal scenario which will see Brook and Khan lock horns in a showdown toward the later stages of 2018.
“Now we’re all together, same promoter, same network, I think there is a better chance of the fight happening.”
“I think they’ll both fight again this summer and then I think November or December is the time we’ll finally see that fight.”

“I’ll sit down with both guys in the next couple of weeks.”
“Both guys will probably fight in July and August, something like that, so they are all looking for the big fights from September or October onwards.”
Hearn was quick to add, that the issue of weight could prove a pothole on the road to making the highly anticipated clash.
Kell Brook has recently declared his foray into the 154 lbs after having widespread problems making the 147 lbs limit physically.
Hearn thinks that Khan will insist on having the fight at the welterweight limit.

“I think it has to be this year and the one big stumbling point is the weight,” Hearn said.
“Amir will probably try and make Kell make 147-pounds which is possible but I think a slight disadvantage to Kell Brook.”
“But as a fight, it’s probably the biggest out there for both of them.”
