Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has hit out at Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis for leaking private emails regarding a potential big money fight against Conor Benn.
Davis and Benn were recently embroiled in a war of words on social media, with the two men insisting they were more than happy to face one another.
That led to Hearn submitting an offer to ‘Tank’ for the fight, but rather than accept, the American instead looks set to face Frank Martin, and chose to post a photo of the email from the Matchroom chief on social media.
Hearn has now had his say on the matter whilst speaking to Boxing Social, and was less than impressed with the behaviour on display.
“I don’t know why I waste my time with this guy, [he’s] like a baby. If you’re not willing to sit down and have a sensible business discussion, like, he doesn’t even know the details of the offer.
“He’s going to make somewhere between 15 and 25million [dollars] to fight Conor Benn, pending how it does on pay-per-view. I don’t know what he’s getting for Frank Martin. I hope he’s getting 20 million [dollars] because that’s a tough fight, but we’ll see.
“We made him an eight-figure offer with plenty of upside. He doesn’t even want to discuss the upside because he just gets ill advice. But, anyway, I wish him all the best. Great fighter and good luck against Frank Martin.”
Davis heads into the fight with Martin on the back of his destructive outing against Ryan Garcia last April, where he earned the stoppage in the seventh round following a sickening body shot.
As for Benn, it is still unknown who his next opponent will be, as he awaits the hearing of the outcome of the appeal by the British Boxing Board of Control regarding his failed tests.
