Sam Eggington (32-7, 18 KOs) impressed and frustrated with his points win over Przemyslaw Zysk (18-1, 6 KOs) to win the IBO Super-Welterweight title at the Coventry Skydome.
Rarely in a dull fight ‘The Savage’ this time looked like having an early night and getting back to Smethwick with some new shiny hardware without a mark on him.
The first two rounds were Eggington at his attacking and relentless best. Creating the openings against the limited Pole and punching Sunday pains into Zysk who was stiff, had his chin in the air and offered nothing.
Zysk was being hit for fun and despite a bloodied nose as well as looking out of his depth he never went down and never gave up.
Eggington’s body shots were also sinking in, Zysk’s flesh moving in the aftermath, but he trooped on and managed to have a reasonable sixth and seventh round.
Zysk’s efforts had left their mark on Eggington’s face and he began to make a fight of it.
“I know you’re tired,” Eggington’s trainer Jon Pegg said to his charge at the end of the eighth.
Something perhaps wasn’t right, but the rounds were in the bag, and he was far enough ahead but being the man, he is Eggington was glad to have a punch up at Zysk’s request.
Zysk landed one-twos and uppercuts in the tenth and appeared to get stronger and more durable. Eggington stayed competitive and still won rounds late on to win a clear unanimous decision.

Adam Azim
Adam Azim (5-0, 4 KOs) continued to blaze a trail in the infant stages of his career with his second consecutive first round win.
With his boxing hero Amir Khan watching ringside Azim wasted little time in getting his hands on a bewildered Anthony Loffet (8-2, 2 KOs).
Azim’s lightning jab was a marker and within 30 seconds of the opening frame he landed a left uppercut to the body of Loffet which was the beginning of the end. A right hand to the mid-section soon followed before two more hit the head of Loffet.
The Belgian was down and after beating the count had to watch as Azim flew in with a wild punch that sailed over but the highly touted BOXXER super lightweight put his one-twos to work and battered his opponent until the towel came in ending the fight at 1.06 of Round One.
Azim’s fifth win gave him the first belt of his career, the vacant WBC Youth Inter-Continental Super Lightweight strap. If the Shane McGuigan trained prospect matches the hype around him then far bigger prizes await him.

Tyler Denny
At the fourth time of asking Tyler Denny (14-2-3) won the English Middleweight title.
Failed attempts in 2018, 2019 and 2021 are now a thing of the past after the Wordsley southpaw beat River Wilson-Bent (12-1-1, 5 KOs) by split decision.
The two 160 pounders clashed last November but the fight was halted in the seventh round after Wilson-Bent had been cut. A furious Denny contemplated quitting the sport, but he will be glad that didn’t play out after a passionate and dogged performance in the rematch.
His pressure, strength, determination and snapping head shots were too much for Wilson-Bent who found a second wind too little, too late.
Karriss Artingstall
Olympic Bronze Medallist Karriss Artingstall impressed on her professional debut against Vaida Masiokaite winning a 60-54 shutout.
Cori Gibbs and Dylan Cheema
BOXXER series winners Cori Gibbs and Dylan Cheema also picked up points wins against Carlos Perez and Stu Greener, respectively, over eight and four rounds.
