Jaron Ennis says that Conor Benn would get hurt if the pair were to square off.
“Boots” was on hand to discuss a potential future matchup between himself and his fellow welterweight world title contender, and how it would play out.
Ennis is coming off a stunning second round knockout win over Canadian challenger, Custio Clayton in an IBF title eliminator, and is now back training and staying busy as he waits for a date for his next bout.
American sports YouTube channel, YSM Sports Media, caught up with the world-ranked welterweight at his gym in Philadelphia.
Responding to comments from Benn that he could knockout the young American prodigy, Ennis said:
“He doesn’t even believe that himself. He’s just sounding stupid. There’s nobody who really knows who he is, but we can make that happen, anywhere, anytime, these guys keep talking too much.”
“He isn’t really about no action. We’ll see if he’s really about that action…You’re going to get hurt messing around with me!”
Both of the young fighters are ranked within the top five with all of the sanctioning bodies, so it is a fight that could happen in the not-so-distant future.
First up though, Benn has his hands full as he makes the move up in weight to fight rival, Chris Eubank Jr in a catchweight bout at the O2 in London, on October 8, live on DAZN PPV.
