Errol Spence Jr. makes his long-awaited return to the ring, after three years away, this summer against Tim Tszyu.
The fight, booked for Saturday, July 25, headlines a Premier Boxing Champions pay-per-view on Prime Video in US prime-time from Australia.
Both fighters confirmed the event May 2 ahead of the unified cruiserweight championship bout atop a separate PBC on Prime Video PPV in Las Vegas.
“I’m grateful to be back,” Spence told media, in a statement sent to Boxing Social.
It’s Spence’s first fight since suffering the first loss of his career in 2023 when he was resoundingly beaten by Terence Crawford in an all-time great welterweight thrashing, with all the major titles in the 147-pound division on the line.
Explaining his more than 1,000-day absence, Spence said: “I took time away to live in the moment, travel and to give my family my full attention.
“I got to enjoy the rewards of my hard work with the people who matter most,” he said. “Now I’m locked back in.”
“Three years away from the sport changed my perspective completely.”

He added: “I’ve grown mentally and physically sharper, and I’m more disciplined and locked in with a deeper level of appreciation.”
When Boxing Social spoke to those close to Spence earlier in the year, we were told how seriously he was thinking of a comeback, and that when the right opponent and opportunity presented itself, the American would confirm the show.
The differences between this fight and his last is weight class, as he moves up to super welterweight, and also location — with Spence taking on Tszyu in the Australian’s own country.
“I chose to come back in his hometown for a reason,” Spence said. “No tune-ups. No easy road I’m stepping straight into his backyard into the fire because that’s where I do my best work.
“On July 25, I’m not aiming to make a return,” he finished. “I’m making a statement.”
